Devotional - Time Management Like Jesus
"... you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." — Luke 10:41-42

Hi Reader,
If you’re like many solopreneurs, your to-do list might as well be a scroll that never ends. From managing sales and content to juggling invoices and inboxes, the hours in a day seem to vanish faster than your cup of tea.
What if you could manage our time the way Jesus did?
It’s a concept I’ve been exploring in the past years. Jesus is a perfect example of this.
And even though my life has changed a couple of times (no kids to three kids; different countries), every time, I’m able to manage my time in a way that is peace-giving and mind-soothing.
Let’s see how we can model Jesus.
1. Rest is Not a Distraction
In one of my favorite stories, Jesus was sleeping soundly during a violent storm (Mark 4:35–41). His disciples were panicking, but He remained at peace.
What if our response to chaos was like that? What if we truly believed that God is in control—even when the storm is blowing and the inbox is overflowing?
Jesus not only took naps—He told His disciples to retreat and rest. He modeled breaks as holy, not indulgent.
Did you know science backs this up? After about 90 minutes of focus, our brains need a reset. Short breaks aren’t a waste; they’re wisdom. Schedule them in your day.
2. Prioritize quiet time
I see myself in Martha—eager, driven, always checking boxes. Hosting Jesus must have felt like the ultimate “client project.” But while she hustled, Mary chose something better: to sit at His feet (Luke 10:38–42).
That hit home for me. How often have I shortened my quiet time with God so I could “do more for Him”? Yet, Jesus gently reminds us that being with Him is the better portion—the one thing that won’t be taken away.
When you make time for God, He’ll make sure all other things are taken care of. First seek His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33)
3. Focus Like Jesus
Jesus never allowed distractions to derail His mission. Even when His own family came looking for Him (Matthew 12), or when people clamored for His attention (Mark 1), He stayed rooted in purpose.
So, here’s the challenge: What’s calling your attention away from your true calling? What can you set aside this week so you can refocus your energy where God wants it?
