Want to be more productive: Move the phone out of the room

Hi Reader,

I think we all would be rich if we got a dollar for every time we touched our phone for no particular reason.

Even though I don't want to be, I have to admit my phone is like a drug. I do take measures to make sure I don't get too addicted, but I can't yet proudly say that I have won the battle.

If you feel the same way, keep reading.

I have some great tips to help you create some time and be more productive.

1. Move the phone out of the room

If you want to get things done, get rid of the phone. Even it being in your eyesight distracts you from the tasks you're supposed to do.

If you don't want to put it in a different room, hide it. Make sure you don't see it.

It sounds silly, but it has such an impact on your focus!

2. Don't touch your phone before the morning routine is over

I must say I struggle with this one. I can't wait to check my WhatsApp and email first thing in the morning. My phone is not in my bedroom, but I enjoy opening the apps while in my PJs.

But, when I do let my phone on the charger and don't touch it until the kids are at daycare and school, I am so much more productive, and present, and get more things done.

There's enough time to get everyone ready and in the car, without rushing.

How's that?!

3. Mute all notifications

All those pings and buzzezzzzzz are distracting. Even just a little flickering telling you you have a message destroys your focus.

Get rid of them.

I don't get any notifications except for when I'm called. I'm not often phoned, but if you are, you can put your phone into a different mode, like DO NOT DISTURB, and select the numbers that can come through, such as school, family, and important contacts.

How do I know I have an email?

I open my email app and check it.

Same for WhatsApp or any other app.

Easy peasy, right?

Reader, any new tips you can implement?

Which one will you apply?

Or do you have a good one to add?

Let me know!

I'm curious :)
